Originally born in Florida, I joined the Navy at 17 and was immediately wisked to the west coast. I spent 11 years in the service, until a certain Commander in Chief was slapped on the wrist for the same thing our troops get restriction and loss of pay for. Since I was running a detention center and restriction barracks at the time, I had a moral dilema, which was best solved by getting out. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the time I spent and wouldn't trade it for anything. (Well most of it.) My first ship, the USS Hoel DDG-13, was a rust bucket based out of California that was twice as old as I was but still kicked butt over some of the new ones. I took my first overseas cruise on her to the Pacific, visitng the Phillipines, Thailand,Hong Kong, Singapore, and Austrailia. She was mothballed not long after I left. My second ship was a top of the line cruiser, the USS Antietam CG-54, a Ticonderoga class AEGIS cruiser also based in California. Very cool ship. It won many an award and was one of the first ships on station during the Gulf War. While cruising the waters a friend gave me an "any service member" letter he picked up. I wrote to the girl who sent it and we became pen pals. Upon my return to the states, we went out, and 7 years later we were married. After the Antietam, I became a Security Police Officer. I traveled to San Antonio where the Air Force Police Academy is located. Most branches of the military use the one accademy. Upon completion, the Navy sent me back to California (see a trend?) I spent three years at San Clemente Island and had a ball working as the Watch Commander and Field Training Officer for the base Security Police. I tried to extend my tour but they wouldn't let me. Next, I went to Lemoore Naval Air station (also in California) and began work at the Detenion Center/Restriction Barracks. It's sort of a mini-brig where prisoners are held during trial. My team was responsible for transporting detainees and prisoners across California, provided Bailiff duties for Courts Martials, and running the Detention Facility. I enjoyed this job as well, serving as the Chief Master-at-Arms, other than the double standard the miltary was held to. About this time I realized I wanted to marry the girl I was with. Luckily, she said yes. Now we have a wonderful son, who just too cool for words. I got another job fairly quickly for a great company where I learned computers and network administration. I was also able to take over the company web site and start learning HTML and using Dreamweaver 4/Fireworks 4. (Very cool tools) I did pretty well there but didn't get along with the new owner (IE the previous owners son-in-law.) I wound up getting fired in the end. This led to this site which is mainly designed for family, friends, and posterity. I am still learning HTML and Javascript and as such, this site may change often as a test platform for new things I come across. After a few years consulting, I moved on to another company where I took a job as a system administrator and was later promoted to an IT Manager. I also began searching for my birthfamily. After a while the agency found my birthmom but she refused contact. She did supply my birthfather's name to the agency and they have begun a search for him.
